Is Kale a Superfood?

Yes, Kale is a superfood that can help boost well-being and prevent a range of health problems. In fact, kale is among the most nutrient-dense foods on the planet, very high in nutrients and very low in calories. It contains fiber, antioxidants, calcium, vitamin K and other nutrients. Kale supports your digestive system. Even the chlorophyll in kale may have health benefits. It is also a good source of vitamin C and iron.


Kale is a member of the cabbage family. It is a cruciferous vegetable like cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, collard greens and Brussels sprouts. There are many different types of kale. The leaves can be green or purple, and have either a smooth or curly shape. The most common type of kale is called curly kale or Scots kale, which has green and curly leaves and a hard, fibrous stem.


Kale adds nutritional value and color to salads and side dishes. You can eat raw kale in a salad. It doesn't need to be cooked to be enjoyed.


What about kale juice? Kale juice has Vitamin K and calcium which are responsible for bone density and health. By drinking kale juice, you can keep your bones and teeth healthy, and reduce your risk of osteoporosis as you age.
