Is Turmeric Good For Weight Loss?

It is said that turmeric is good with weight loss. Thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties and anti-obesity potential it can help cut the bulge in a healthy way. Curcumin, an antioxidant, suppresses the inflammatory condition in fat, pancreatic and muscle cells. It can also suppress fat tissue growth. Some other studies shows that turmeric can regulate sugar levels and further preventing insulin resistance. This results in excess fat that is not retained in the body.


How to use it? One way is drink turmeric tea. All you need to do is to pour a cup or two of water into a saucepan and boil it. Once the water comes to a boil, add a dash of turmeric to it. In case you want to add cinnamon, you could add a stick or powder to it. Cinnamon also helps lose weight. Stir well and pour it in a cup and drink when it is lukewarm. Turmeric is not a miracle spice; you will have to eat a healthy diet combined with exercises to lose weight.



WHAT IS TURMERIC AND CURCUMIN?

Turmeric is a spice that looks similar to ginger; it is this root-like stem that produces the yellow turmeric spice that comes from the turmeric plant. It is commonly used in Asian food. Turmeric is the main spice in curry that gives its yellow color. It has a warm, bitter taste and is frequently used to flavor or color curry powders, mustards, butters, and cheeses. But the root of turmeric is also used widely to make medicine. The yellow-colored chemical and main active ingredient in turmeric its called curcumin, which is often used to color foods and cosmetics.


It is believe that this spice has powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is a very strong antioxidant. Turmeric and especially its most active compound curcumin have many scientifically-proven health benefits, such as the potential to prevent heart disease, Alzheimer's and cancer. It's a potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant and may also help improve symptoms of depression and arthritis.


OTHER USES:

Turmeric is used for arthritis, heartburn (dyspepsia), joint pain, stomach pain, Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, bypass surgery, hemorrhage, diarrhea, intestinal gas, stomach bloating, loss of appetite, jaundice, liver problems, Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection, stomach ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), gallbladder disorders, high cholesterol, a skin condition called lichen planus, skin inflammation from radiation treatment, and fatigue.

It is also used for headaches, bronchitis, colds, lung infections, fibromyalgia, leprosy, fever, menstrual problems, itchy skin, recovery after surgery, and cancers. Other uses include depression, Alzheimer's disease, swelling in the middle layer of the eye (anterior uveitis), diabetes, water retention, worms, an autoimmune disease called systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), tuberculosis, urinary bladder inflammation, and kidney problems.
